【ご質問】

「胃がもたれる」を英語では何と言えばよいでしょうか？

まずはじめに

実は、わたくし「胃がもたれる」の意味がよくわからなくて、

と言うのも、「胃がもたれた」経験がないのです。

というワケで、日本語の意味をまず調べてみました。

「消化不良で胃の辺りが重たく感じる様子などを意味する。」

だそうで、早速ラスに確認しました。

"It means indigestion and feeling heavy in stomach area."

と辞書に載ってたけれど、英語で何て言えばいいのかな

【Indigestion】 を調べてみたら、「 www.webmd.com/」には

こんな解説が載っていました。

”You know it when you feel it: that full, uncomfortable sensation in your belly during or after a meal. You might have burning or pain in the upper part of your stomach, too. It’s indigestion, also called dyspepsia.”

Symptoms

ちなみに英和辞書でもいくつか調べてみましたよ。

【Indigestion】　（名）　「不消化」、「消化不良」、「胃弱」、「(不消化による）腹痛」　（出典：リーダーズ英和大辞典）

英和辞典には、「消化不良」と記載されている辞書が多く、

「胃もたれ」と記載されているものは、

私が調べた限りではありませんでした。

しかしながら、上記の英文解説を

日本語の「胃もたれ」に一番近い単語は、

「Indigestion」になるのではないかと思います。

【回答】

一言で日本語の「胃もたれ」を説明するのは難しく、胃もたれの症状を少し具体的に説明すればよろしいのではないかとのことでした。

＊こちらが日本語の「胃もたれ」に一番近いダイレクトな言い方になるかと思います。　

◆ I have heartburn. （胸やけがします。）

◆　I'm feeling full/bloated. 　（膨満感があります。/お腹が張っている感じがします。）
